Trip Log: Kayaking Lake Ontario

7:25am, Wednesday, May 25th
Breslau to Burlington, Ontario

We started out from Breslau and hit the highway by 7:30. Traffic wasn’t too bad and we stayed in the right lane. I usually do when I have my boat tied on the car.

The sky was clouded over and I was concerned it might rain during our paddle, but it cleared up nicely later on.

We parked in the Beachway Park lots that run along Lakeshore Road and the Waterfront Trail. Conveniently located so that we were able to easily carry both our kayaks from the cars down to the beach.

Out on the water it was calm and very hazy… at some points you couldn’t see where the horizon was, the sky and the lake just merged into one mass.

We paddled out to an odd structure to retrieve a geocache, which unfortunately was tightly sealed from the weather. I took photos and posted my log, and we paddled directly from the structure over to the beach for lunch. It was nice to stretch the legs!

Trip Log: Kayaking Laurel Creek

May 19, 2016

This Creek is right in my backyard, so to speak. It was time I got to exploring it by boat!

I packed up the GPS, GoPro, and snacks, and got the kayak on my car. Off I went.

The first thing I quickly learned about Laurel Creek was there are stumps in the water – lots of them. I got my boat caught on more than one during the paddling adventure. They looked like ancient volcano crators!
