Found 2 geocaches
Determined to use my Hamilton Conservation Annual pass, I picked the Eramosa Karst Conservation Area to explore. Mild trails, easy to walk or run. Tall, tall trees and hills.
I discovered various caves along the trails… I’m not a cave person, so just glancing into some of them was just fine by me!
Every time I step out of my house I realize just how lucky we are that all these conservation areas are here, and so close by. I absolutely love it and never want to take it for granted.

Breslau to Burlington, Ontario
We started out from Breslau and hit the highway by 7:30. Traffic wasn’t too bad and we stayed in the right lane. I usually do when I have my boat tied on the car.
The sky was clouded over and I was concerned it might rain during our paddle, but it cleared up nicely later on.
We parked in the Beachway Park lots that run along Lakeshore Road and the Waterfront Trail. Conveniently located so that we were able to easily carry both our kayaks from the cars down to the beach.
Out on the water it was calm and very hazy… at some points you couldn’t see where the horizon was, the sky and the lake just merged into one mass.
We paddled out to an odd structure to retrieve a geocache, which unfortunately was tightly sealed from the weather. I took photos and posted my log, and we paddled directly from the structure over to the beach for lunch. It was nice to stretch the legs!

5.3 km loop
Beautiful, beautiful fall afternoon for a hike, and the boyfriend finally joined me 🙂
The leaves are changing gradually… Bright reds on the tops of the trees, bright greens in the shade of the forest. There were so many others out on this trail today too, it was so nice to see.
With all these warm temperatures lately, it’s hard to believe the freezing cold and snow will be here in as little as a couple weeks!
Today was a quick hike (4/52). A friend discovered a new side trail to the Hopewell Trail I did yesterday, so I thought it would be perfect for today. A 300 metre side trail through the trees, still very new and not much to it but a few branches and flashes to mark the path.
Squirrels, chipmunks, and red squirrels were not happy and made sure to chirp at me the whole time 🙂
Hike #3! The Hopewell Trail in Breslau, Ontario, 1.6km
My GPS seemed to fail for a good chunk of this trail for some reason, but the missing point-to-point was dead straight.
I took my mom with me for this evening hike, and she’ll likely be on a few more with me for the challenge 🙂
It was a cool, damp walk between the trees and the neighbourhood. The air was still fresh but crisp. Autumn is definitely here!
